Shared Datasource and DataSet Creation

The Shared Datasource is the Datasource which can be used by more than one Reports which has the connection String and credentials stored for a DataSource.

Example: You can make a Datasource named TestDB for Shared DataSource which connects to TestDB with Windows Authentication on Server named “TestServer”.

DataSets are the Queries which run the DataSource to get the information needed for the Reports.
Note: Always select only the columns needed.

Example: DataSet named TestDataSet can be based on above DataSource as Select name, age, address from Employees;. The Columns Retrieved such as Name, Age, Address can be displayed in the Report for all employes.

To input values to Reports and running the Reports based on input values can be done using Parameterisation.
