In Simple terms, Data Warehouse is a database used for both reporting and analysis for an Organization. It is De-normalized form of the data stored in a Central location mainly used for Business Intelligence. The data stored in the warehouse is uploaded from the operational databases which are OLTP (Online Transactional Processing) in nature. The data may pass through an operational data store for additional operations before Data is used in Reporting.

Developing a Data Warehouse normally includes following
• Operational Databases which are OLTP in nature
• ETL (Extraction, Transformation, and Loading)
• OLAP Data Warehouse(Online Analytical Processing)
• Multi-Dimensional Data Modelling or Building Cubes
• Reporting
Business Intelligence:
refers to identifying, extracting and analyzing business data. BI provides current, historical predictive views of business operations. The most of the business intelligence technologies are done by reporting, OLAP, analytics, data mining, process mining, business performance management, benchmarking, text mining and predictive analytics.
Business intelligence aims to support better business decision-making. Thus a BI system can be called a decision support system (DSS). Bi is also used competitive intelligence with DSS.
